OXLEAS Mental Health Unit – Refurbishment Project to En-suite bedrooms and assisted bathrooms at Shepherdleas Ward

On behalf of VINCI, RAAM has been appointed and as led contractor to deliver complex refurbishment to all bathrooms En suite Rooms within Shepherdleas Ward. This project contains 23 bathrooms (19 En-Suite bedroom) and 4 Assisted Bathrooms on its own.

This project has reached halfway at the end of 2021 and will continue during a 1st quarter of 2022.

 Each bathroom is fully strip back to bear shale, as changes will have to be applied event to the screed crating new slope design by architects. Bathroom selection of products have been fully agreed with Client and specialist producers like: Kingsway Anti-Ligature Shower En-suite Doorset and KG250 & KG255 grab rails, Total Laminate System – bespoke design of IPS panels, White Rock PVC wall cladding, sanitary ware from Anti ligature Shop (curtain tracks); Wallgate ALM-02FF; Anti-ligature, highly robust Polycarbonate mirrors; Horne T605BLR TS1-3 Dual Mode Shower Panel with Thermostatic Shower Valve and auto divert; Dart Valley VR01-034; High Security WC Pan; WHB all with proximity movement detection sensors, have been appointed and contracted under sole RAAM’s management.

RAAM staff before commencing on site have participated into 3 site inductions: 1st RAAM project deployment induction including extensive brief to additional hazards list and expected behavioural situation within live mental health ward, 2nd deliver by VINCI and 3rd by OXLEAS team on daily routines, procedures. So far project has been delivered to Full OXLEAs and VINCI expectations without any danger’s situations.

 Each completed bathroom become now fully anti ligature bathrooms. Further improvements have been made to maintenance via new access panels on IPS system, cleaning improvement has been achieved due to white rock PVC sheets and correct installation of other elements.

Project is being deliver with maximum allowed unused capacity by NHS England: two bedrooms at the time. All construction and refurbishment works are being delivered with extra care and attention due to live operating ward.
